I Win By Walking

Lesson #1 – You Have To Paddle! If there is one defining characteristic of waves, it is that they are always moving. They never stop.  Therefore, in order to catch a wave, you have to be moving too. Think of it like the baton exchange in a relay race. One runner is coming full speed down the track and his partner starts running before he reaches so that their speeds synchronize for the baton handover.  Surfers paddle as hard as they can in the same direction as the wave so that they can synchronize with the wave’s speed.  This is where they expend most of their effort.  A common problem with walking in the Spirit is the question of effort. Does walking in the Spirit mean that we do nothing, and God does it all for us?  Not at all. There is some effort in which we must engage in order to walk in the Spirit.  Let’s examine a key verse in this passage - Galatians 5:16 (NKJV, emphasis mine): I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  We must walk! I

Undone

In Isaiah‬ ‭6:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬, Isaiah declared, “I am undone.” When you rest in His Presence, let down your guard, open your heart and be transparent with Him. Let sin die in His Presence. Let the old man die in His Presence. Let your flesh die in His Presence. Choose to become undone.  According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for “Undone” is, ‘ damah ’ which means, “To be brought to silence, to cease, cause to cease, cut off, destroy or to perish.”  In this moment, Isaiah was brought to silence. In fact, Isaiah thought that he was about to die because He saw God. Sin cannot stand in His Presence. Flesh cannot stand in the presence of God.  Isaiah was struck by fear, both reverential awe and natural fear by this awesome wonder. Honor the moment. Honor the platform that God has given you.  Steward the moment well. Fear does not have to paralyze you. It is okay to honor the moment and to understand the magnitude of your call, but don’t stay stuck mesmerized by the moment that you f

The Magnitude of the Moment.

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬ In Isaiah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬, Isaiah, the Prophet, is standing in the midst of an incredible vision. He is standing in the midst of Heaven, observing the Throne Room of God. While he is in the middle of this vision, he sees the Seraphim (angelic beings) that circle the Throne of God saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah‬ ‭6:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬.  Imagine this awesome sight. Imagine a vision so mighty that you cannot articulate the words to translate what you’re seeing. Imagine sitting in the Throne Room of God and listening to the Heavenly host declare that He is Holy.  Imagine seeing these remarkable things. Imagine experiencing a moment in time so majestic and Holy that you suddenly realize and recognize that you are a human — and that you’re standing in the midst of the Holy Operation of Heaven. Seven Ways to Make the Devil Flee

“ The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ God has promised us that He will cause our enemies who rise against us to be defeated before our faces. But we can get in the way of our blessing and leave room for the enemy to stand in our faces rather than fleeing seven ways. With that in mind, here are seven tactics to make the devil flee seven ways. 1. Diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God 2. Repent before you engage in battle 3. Know that God is on your side 4. War from a position of victory 5. Praise your way through 6. Take up you

Passion,Vision & Action

“ Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul, fuels our love and carries our friendships, stimulates our intellect, and pushes our limits .” Pat Tilman Where does your passion come from? What is the source of leadership? Jesus clearly acted out of His passion for people and the world, but where did that passion come from? In these verses He explains that true fruitfulness in life comes from being connected to the real source. Ultimately Jesus’ passion came from God, His Father. He and the Father were one, so closely linked that what was on God’s heart was on the Son’s heart, too. In John 5:19 He says, “…the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” Jesus knows if it was true for Him, it would be even more so for us. He tells His followers in these verses, if you want to be fruitful in a lasting way, remain connected to Me, get your passion from Me. This is where true passion for

What is the significance of God telling Cain, “Sin is crouching at your door” (Genesis 4:7)?

What is the significance of God telling Cain, “Sin is crouching at your door” (Genesis 4:7)? Genesis 4:6–7  is a challenging Bible passage to make sense of: “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?  But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.’” To appreciate the significance of God telling  Cain , “Sin is crouching at your door,” we must first consider the context of the larger story. Cain was angry because God had accepted his brother Abel’s offering and not his own ( Genesis 4:3–5 ).  Some say it was because Abel offered a blood sacrifice and Cain did not. Others believe Cain’s offering was  rejected  because, unlike Abel’s, it was not the best and the first of his crop. The Bible doesn’t explicitly spell out the answer. Yet we can be sure that there was something about Cain’s attitude, motivation, or unwillingness to obey.

Fear No Evil

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ The next covenant name is in the first part of verse four. It tells us even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil, for God is with us.  He is revealing Himself as the  Jehovah Shammah —the Lord ever-present. He says, "I will never leave you; I will never forsake you." In some Bible versions, the "valley of the shadow of death" is translated as the "valley of deep darkness."  We've all had times when we felt alone—that there was no one else there with us. However, God made a covenant with us.  He has promised to always be with us, always near us, never to leave us, nor forsake us—even when we are going through the deep darkness. The next part of verse four says,  "You will fear no evil."  In Deuteronomy 31, we are reminded not to fear nor be disma
